My name is Shirley Trimmer, I am a YMCA certified personal yoga teacher

and have been practicing Iyengar style, Hatha yoga for over 12 years.

I teach small groups, one-to-one sessions and I attend offices

to give employees yoga classes.

Everyone is welcome! you don't need to be flexible to start yoga...

Just come willing and receptive...

The word 'Yoga' derived from the Sanskrit root yui which means to

"to join" or " yoke".

In philosophic terms, the union of the individual self,

with the universal self, is yoga.

In the practice of yoga,

we aim to join/unite the mind, body and breath.

Hatha yoga

Hatha yoga is actually an umbrella term for the physical practice of yoga.

It was designed to align and calm the mind and spirit,

dating back thousands of years.

Iyengar, Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Hot yoga are just a few

of the many styles that are based on Hatha yoga.

Pranayama (breathing exercises), are introduced to focus and
control the fluctuations of the mind, and soothe the
sympathetic nervous system.

So through the practice of asanas' (physical poses) and
pranayama (breathing exercises)  we gain:

• strength • energy • flexibility • calm mind

In todays busy lives, time to relax needs to be made.
Feed the body with breath, and in turn the mind stills.
Awaken the body with exercise, and the body becomes active and alive.

Together body and mind become balanced.

Niyama – Ishvara Pranidhana:

The power of surrender

"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom"

Anais Nin

I've been doing some yoga everyday since Saturday and it already feels great. I'm comparing my general back pain/sore legs feeling from last year to how I feel now and it's just so much better now. Thank you Shirley that's all thanks to your lessons!

Astrid Larue

"Such an amazing start to the day. Thank you so much!"

Joshua Douglas

"Well done Shirley, my shoulder is feeling so much better"
